This is the best news ever!!!! My husband and I found your hole in heaven one year when he refused to fly back to ATL from MS. We continued to come every year thereafter and told only our closest friends about our little secret. For twenty years you were the location of choice for me and my family, and for eighteen years for my wifes' family. We were accomodated even when we had to have medicine sent in advance because of my wife's illness. I just hope that with the new sponsor ship you don't forget what made you a tradition to so many families and consequently become such that families cant afford to come.. We can't wait for the re-opening! We drove down from BUFFALO just to stay at the five flags every April & October,and to see the super great staff and of course Baker & Mal! We haven't been down since Ivan (mainly because we didn't want to stay anywhere else). Sign us up for a gulf front room with a balcony!!!!!!!

We are so glad of the re-opening. We wanted to spend our fifth wedding anniversery there in June 07. But we went to PC beach. But 2010 we will spend our 8th for sure at Five Flags. All I can possibly express has been covered in reading these messages. Destin's too crowded. Pull open the curtain at FFI and see the view FROM THE BED!! Great grilling on the balcony over the office, Oh wait I did not read anyone had their child speak their first words on the patio at FFI. Mine did "BIRD" She is now 19 years old. WE can't wait to come home to this vacation spot!!

I spent so many nights at Five Flags. I remember every summer taking trips as a family from our home in Gadsden, AL to the beautiful beaches of Gulf Breeze, FL. It was something to always look forward to! We would come and stay 5 nights at a time, 3 times each summer. I was a guest from the time I was 5 until I turned 22 and it was destroyed by Ivan. I can’t wait until I can return to Five Flags with the family for one last big family vacation before I go off and start a family of my own. Hurry UP!!!! Please strive to keep the down home family atmosphere in tact!

WE LOVE FIVE FLAGS!!!! My family and I have been comming since I was 10 and I am now 21.Our Taekwondo group used to come every year. We all have so many memories. If you could add a lazy river(haha). I took my daughters to Pensacola after a very bitter divorce in 2003. We stayed at the Five Flags Inn - it was WONDERFUL. The guests were great and we were all like one big, happy family. Accomodations were clean and good - we felt so safe the entire time. I cannot WAIT!!!!

Oh my Goodness! I am so stoked that Mr Baker and Mal are rebuilding. This was where I grew up. I have been coming here since I can remember. My parents would bring us 6 or 7 times a summer. My favorite time was for the Blue Angels when the whole "gang" was there. ( Pam,Craig,Angie Eugene, Aunt Pat her family,My Mom dad brothers and the list goes on) If I left you out you know I love you. Haha Anyway it looks like I am going to get to Bring my family down in 18 months. My husband and sons will get to see where I spent my summer vaca. I wouldnt want to go anywhere else if I had a choice. We have been going to Destin. The last time we were there my little boy was 1 and he will be 5 in aug. I just read an article that there would be Five Flags "no more" & saw a picture after the IVAN damage. I sat here with tears in my eyes, then came across this site & news of the rebuilding. THANK YOU!! My husband & I have been married 43 years & our first trip was to Pensacola ('60s) & Five Flags, & every year after that. Our daughter was "raised" there each summer. Our home is full of pictures of the WONDERFUL TIMES there; especially after the wonderful patio was added & sitting outside on it. I believe I remember that "fellow Mississippians" at one time owned it. We can certainly feel your pain, considering now our own MISSISSIPPI COAST is "gone".
But there will never be another FIVE FLAGS!!!!!!.......so BUILD BUILD BUILD!!
I'm waiting for reservations!! (plezzz save just a couple of rooms for "pet-friendly!!)

Best News !!! My husband has been spending vacations with his family there since he was a child and of course we brought our children too. We were there the day that they started to bulldoze the ruins down.I can't begin to tell you how hard that was to watch. The gentleman operating the bulldozer let us take the one plastic chair that was left there. You know, the ones we all sat in outside the rooms! It sits in our baitshop in Memphis, TN. The day that you reopen we want to be there to hand it back to Sally- Sure hope she'll be there too!

Since the early 1980's I have so many times enjoyed a cup of coffee sitting out in front of room 116. I cried my heart out seeing the distruction of Ivan...on my favorite little spot o lond on the beach. (we even had two weeks of hell ourselves in the mountains of NC with hurricane force winds and gust of 90 mph for hours on end...we lost homes and trees too)it was like seeing a part of myself gone.

Heck with the big Hotels!!! Our Five Flags is RISING like a Pheonix from the ashes. Thank heavens because I will be booking a trip as soon as doors are open! Love and miss all the staff!

I am so exited that 5 flags is coming back. You just don't know all of the memories I have from my childhood. My father used to take us there every year that he could. He stayed there the summer before he died of cancer. He wanted to stay there one more time. He died after the hurricane. He would have been very happy that it is being rebuilt. I can remember eating dinner on the balcony over the office. Thanks for the memories. You can count on my children and I returning.

I am so glad that yur rebuilding. The first time we were there, my 12 year old was just 6-weeks old! On top of the new baby we had just moved to a new house so we needed a major break! We planned the trip on short notice and ya’ll were so accommodating. Seeing pics of the sea wall brings back so many great memories. I used to sit there and feed my son and have coffee every morning. We first came to the FFI in 1978 when we in our 20s and lived in New Orleans. We loved it then. Having drinks and peanuts on the second floor balcony looking over the gulf was the greatest. We have been waiting to return to Pensacola Beach until the Five Flags Inn is rebuilt. We love staying there. 2010 can't come soon enough.

I am happy to hear that the Five Flags Inn will be rebuilt! I am hopeful that a similar two story structure will replace the old Inn. I was recently at the intersection of Thomas Drive and the Front Road in Panama City. The beach cannot be see for at least a mile as you drive West because of the High rise Condo Congestion. Hopefully the Architect of record on this project will be considerate of the site.

My family and I have been going to Five Flags since I can remember. I have pictures of me from when I was 3 and when I was 18, playing in the sand in front of this hotel. My mom and I come at least twice a summer and can't wait till the re-open!!

I look forward to driving 16 hours from Northern Illinois to get back to FFI again! My family has so many great memories that were made there over the years. We have tried PCB a couple of times; it doesn't come close. Tried the Hampton Inn down the road; it doesn't come close either. Thanks to the owners for rebuilding! We will be back!

Great! I've been going to the Five Flags for nearly 20 years. I took my kids a couple of years ago. We had a blast. I am so glad it's going to be rebuilt!! I'm already packing for the next trip.

That is so great!!! I miss going to Five Flags Inn every year. My family has been going to FFI since the early seventies. I am so excited. I remember feeding the seagulls, searching for shells, and mailing postcards at my favorite hotel in Florida. I can't wait to come back.

fantastic!! my daughter, heather from texas(writer #45 above)and i would head out from good ole minden once, sometimes twice, each summer at five flags from when she was about 5 yrs old until about when she finished high school. she is 25 now. what wonderful memories.. we met old friends/new friends at ffi every visit. the family atmosphere, safety for all the kids swimming in the great pool and playing ball on the beach behind the pool... the great owners and staff...we always stayed on the 2nd floor in the 2nd room from the east end - seems like it was rm #225.. i would sit on the balconey in the afternoons-early evenings having a few drinks and checking out the babes... Must start going again!!!

THIS IS GREAT NEWS!
MANY years ago, we took off on a road trip and ended up in Pensacola. Five Flags had a room, the Blue Angels flew over and we fell in love with life in Pensacola. Close to 30 years later, we've gone back as often as funds would allow and always to FFI. We've loved every minute of our time there.
Although some change is inevitable, we would love to see the FFI back, JUST THE WAY IT WAS.
